NOW LET US Article – Teenage Engineering: Introducing APC-2

Teenage Engineering, in collaboration with SUPERSENSE, has introduced the APC-2, a professional real-time record cutter designed to produce high-quality analog playback discs.

Teenage Engineering has officially introduced the APC-2, a professional audio disc recording system designed and built for producing original playback discs with superior sound quality in real-time.

Developed in exclusive collaboration with analog media masters SUPERSENSE, the APC-2 aims to make physical record cutting accessible to anyone who wants their music on vinyl. Currently, only a highly limited run of these machines has been manufactured.

Heavyweight Precision Engineering

Finished in sleek black, the APC-2 is constructed from premium powder-coated aluminum and solid granite to ensure maximum stability and vibration dampening. The entire system measures 1300 x 600 x 400 mm (51 x 23.6 x 15.7 inches) and weighs a massive 140 kg (308 lbs).

Technical Specifications

  • Main Motor: Direct drive system featuring a precision-polished tungsten shaft, variable speed control, wow and flutter under 0.01% WRMS, and a 1.5 ppm accurate reference clock.
  • Pitch Motor: Variable pitch control with automation capabilities directly from a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), enabling locked grooves and other specialty cuts.
  • Cutting Head: Stereo feedback cutting head equipped with an automated lift mechanism.
  • Vacuum System: Integrated vacuum hold-down and swarf removal system.
  • Heating: Temperature-controlled heating system.
  • Amplification & Monitoring: Integrated power amplifier with feedback and RIAA encoder. Monitoring features an RIAA amplifier with headphone/line output and a custom tonearm.
  • Connectivity & Power: Remote control capability over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The entire system is powered by a single 230V/120V IEC connector.

Due to its extremely limited availability, interested parties are required to contact the creators directly via email to inquire about purchasing the machine.
