NOW LET US Article – Our new community investments in Virginia support local jobs and expand energy affordability.

Google is deepening its commitment to Virginia with new community investments aimed at supporting local jobs, training the next-generation workforce, and launching a $15 million Energy Impact Fund to improve energy affordability.

Virginia has been a home for Google for more than a decade, with an office in Reston and data centers in Loudoun and Prince William Counties. Today, we’re deepening our commitment to the Commonwealth with new community investments that will support thousands of local jobs, prepare the next-generation workforce and expand energy affordability.

To prepare Virginians for skilled jobs created by infrastructure growth across the state, we’re funding the electrical training ALLIANCE (etA) to support local electrical apprenticeship training facilities. With this funding, they aim to increase training capacity to support an additional 2,741 apprentices by 2030. This builds on our existing local support and is part of a national commitment from Google.org to prepare over 300,000 skilled tradespeople.

As we responsibly build data centers in Virginia, we have invested in over 500 megawatts of new energy capacity, collaborating with partners to bring more power to the grid. To support energy affordability at the local level, we're also launching a $15 million Energy Impact Fund. This will help drive down monthly utility bills for Virginians by funding critical community projects like home repairs, weatherization and energy-efficiency upgrades.
