How to Disable Firefox's Emoji Picker

Mozilla decided to add an emoji picker to Firefox 150, which some people might find useful, but they implemented it using the shortcut Ctrl + . (Control + Dot). This happens to be the exact same shortcut that 1Password uses by default and has been using for a very long time!

On GNOME, we already have a global shortcut for an emoji picker (typically Super + . or similar). Furthermore, many users don't frequently use emojis within their browser workflow, making this new feature more of a hindrance than a help due to the shortcut conflict.

How to disable the shortcut

Disabling this feature is straightforward:

Open about:config in Firefox.
Search for widget.gtk.native-emoji-dialog.
Set its value to false.
Restart Firefox if Ctrl + . does not immediately start working for your other applications.

In many cases, the change takes effect immediately without needing a restart. Once disabled, you can properly use 1Password or other conflicting shortcuts again.
